Trad Lead Climbing essentials - What's it all about?
Learning to lead trad climbs is probably the biggest step in a climbers progression. Up until this point you've been tied to preplaced gear, or seconding an experienced leader and now is the time to push forwards. During our twoi day course we will teach you all about runner placements, anchor building and single rope technique to prepare you for your first lead.

Skills
- Day 1:
- Trad gear types and their pros and cons
- Gear placement workshop
- Anchor building workshop including a variety of belay building systems
- Tactical and psychological aspects of a lead
- "Ghost" leading allowing you to experience the full leading experience whilst safely climbing on top-rope
- Day 2:
- Recap of day 1
- More ghost leads
- Coached lead - lead a known route with your instructor directly next to you guiding you placements
- If you feel ready, you can fly solo with a rope placed next to you should you feel the need to clip in

Intermediate climbers who have been seconding trad routes and feel ready for their first lead.

Prior experience required
You should already be at an indoor centre or sport climbing soutside. You can lead belay, tie in and remove gear autonomously. If you're quite there yet, consider our Trad climbing basics course
