Mountain Navigation - what's it all about?

This intermediate mountain navigation course is perfect if you've gained some experience walking in the wild areas of the UK. Have you used a map and a compass on the odd occasion but want to increase your competence? This course will make your way around the high mountains in safety, whatever the weather should come naturally. We will take you from the basics through to planning a journey to using a compass in more advanced settings. The perfect companion course for our Mountain Skills course which can be run consecutively to give you the full skillset.

Ideal for:

Intermediate hikers operating in more complex terrain in a middle-high mountain setting, mountaineers and more advanced hill-goers who want to be able to operate in more adverse conditions safely.

Ratio

6:1 Maximum, 2:1 Minimum - please note we must have 2 clients to run the course. This keeps individual costs to an acceptable level.

Fitness requirements

Low - Medium. These courses are based in the mountains and will have greater physical demand. You should be able to sustain two days of hillwalking without difficulty. If you're not sure please contact us.

Prior experience required

It is recommended that participants should have completed some basic navigation skills.
